A Restorative Process
The NET process was designed as a way to provide a restorative response and accountability, inspired by an incident where a member of the dispute resolution community made a LinkedIn post showing an image of dispute resolvers being struck by lightening and listing fifty-five specific people as part of a “forewarned is forearmed” block list.
Because everyone involved was a dispute resolution professional, it seemed fitting that this might be an opportunity to try new innovations in the spirit of inclusion and accountability, so the upset member of community could take responsibility for their actions and the community could explore ways to include them if possible.
