MH Mediate’s Mental Health Safe Project started its advocacy work in the legal and alternative dispute resolution community, as a reaction to inadvertently discriminatory guidance about people with mental illness. Building from our successes getting major changes at court systems, law schools, publishers, and professional associations we developed a model to make similar, scalable impacts across a variety of key United States industries.
Our goal is to make 1,000,000 of these changes by 2035. This target is meant to help us continue expanding our scope, scale, and automation so we can make bigger and bigger impacts including changes such as the Michigan Court System removing inappropriate mental illness inquiries from their policy documents and Harvard authors removing book language directing people to assume people with specific mental health conditions were difficult.
